The Medicaid Deputy director leads the Policy division to align policies and procedures to meet federal and state requirements. This is one of the urgent essentialities for a rigorous Medicaid program operated in American Samoa. The policy division avenue is to design policies that not only protects the program from fraud, waste, and abuse but to set explicit guidelines that will gear the program successfully to meet its objectives.

Finance Division

The Finance division is led by the Division Head of Finance and consists of two staff members - 1 Staff Accountant and 1 Accounting Technician. They are responsible for issuing payment reimbursements to healthcare providers and all financial costs associated with administering the Medicaid program. More importantly, they coordinate and assist with accounting and data processing on fiscal matters.

Benefits & Eligibility Division

The Benefits & Eligibility Division (BED) is led by the Benefits & Eligibility Division Head, four Benefits coordinators, and one support staff.  Their primary essential role is to prescreen and determine the eligibility of the community to ensure they are aligning and meet the American Samoa Medicaid State Agency program requirements. The Benefits & Eligibility division thrives the artwork of the Medicaid State Agency’s mission to ensure that its program and services are being ethically facilitated and coverage is provided based on eligibility marks.

Program Integrity Division

As mandated by Congress, the division is led by the Program Integrity Lead or Division Head
and a Program Integrity Analyst. Their role is to ensure that federal and state taxpayer dollars are spent appropriately on delivering quality, necessary care and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse.

Health Information Technology Division

The Health Information Technology division serves to secure an authentic electronic compatible system that is used to store, share, and assess health information and data. Administrative Division

The administrative division develops and implements procedures for expediting the flow of clerical
work for the office. The division is operated by a Division Head and its administrative assistants that works effectively to ensure an adequate flow of clerical work within the office. Their valuable role within the office is coordinating the process of personnel action for recruitment, promotions, step increments, and other personnel requests that is to include assistance with our finance division for payments.
